Song Mode

In song mode, you can chain different arrangements after each other. An arrangement is a combination of patterns and tracks as they are setup in the Track/Pattern Matrix, together with some other conditions, like how many time the arrangement loops before it goes to the next arrangement. A scene can have only 1 song like this, but it can have multiple arrangements.

This is the layout:

[ up ] [ down ] [ left ] [ rght ] [ sseq ] [ mtrx ] [ song ] [ scen ] ( bpm )
[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ shft ]
[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ copy ]
[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ pste ]
[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ undo ]
[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ keyb ]
[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ fill ]
[ ** ] [ ** ] [ ** ] [ ** ] [ ** ] [ ** ] [ ** ] [ ** ] [ trns ]
  • The entire grid will be a representation of your track/pattern configuration. An avarage of notes / steps is taken to make a visual representation of the arrangement.
  • The column that is highlighted is the currently playing arrangement.
    • If the song does not yet have arrangements, this is indicated by a pulsating green bar as your first arrangement. Hold that to create your first arrangement.
  • You can directly tap a column of an arrangement to queue that. If you tap a queued column again the sequencer will immediately start playing that arrangement; this helps when editing arrangements.
  • The row marked with [ ** ] is where the playhead currently is. This will move like a progress indicator to show how far the current arrangement is.
  • The [up] and [down] buttons can be used to set the track in a "playing" ([up]) or "looping" ([down]) state. The default for new arrangements is "looping".
    • "playing" : the song will play and the next arrangement will start as soon as the current arrangement is done.
    • "looping" : the current arrangement will loop until the song is put back in playing mode or another arrangement is queued.
    • Note that even in "looping" mode the length of the arrangement is still honored to determine when to queue to the next arrangement.
  • The [left] and [rght] button can be used to paginate through the different pages of arrangements. If one if these buttons is blinking, it means that the currently playing arrangement is before or after the current page.
  • An arrangement is simply a snapshot of your current track/pattern matrix. When you make adjustments to the track/pattern matrix, these are not directly stored in the currently playing arrangement. This will be indiciated by a blinking state of the playhed. To save the current track/pattern matrix in the arrangement, hold down the playhead in the song editor.
    • To indicate if there are changes made in the current arrangement, the playhead will be blinking.
    • The playhead will briefly blink to indicate your changes have been stored.
  • There are various ways to add or edit arrangements:
    • To add a new arrangement after the playhead hold down any button on the X-axis right of the playhead.
    • To add a new arrangement before the playhead hold down any button on the X-axis left of the playhead.
      • Please note that the newly added arrangement will always be a copy of your current one.
    • To swap the arrangement from your current location in the song with the neighbour one hold [shft] and press [left] or [rght] to swap the two arrangements. This can also be repeated to move an arrangement around (e.g. move from left to right)
    • To copy an arrangement, press the [copy] button on arrangement X, and use the [pste] button in arrangement Y.
    • Hold [copy] to delete the current arrangement.
    • Made a mistake? Use [undo] to restore your last cut/copy/paste action.

The length of the arrangement is determined by 2 factors:

  • The length of track #1. This is the base length. Track repeats are taken into account here.
  • The number of repeats. This can be set by holding down the [song] button and pressing step 1-64 to set the repeat count to 1 or 64.
